Just make sure it goes into the proper category. :)

No streaming updates today here on either machine in my signature. Streaming is enabled, connection not established.
-
Today in the afternoon the service suffered interruptions constantly.now worked well.
spain,regards
-
Now in czech stream updates doesn't work. Connection flicks between established and not established. Even though it is established, no updates come trough
-
For me connection is etablished and I'm receiving all the updates.
-
Now some are received, but connection still flicks
-
No streaming updates yet today. Connection not established. The servers are not reliable at this time. Avast did autoupdate the VPS and is now at 130213-0.
-
Well my XP desktop is receiving them today but from some reason, even though on my win7 netbook, with streaming updates enabled and the connected is established but nothing received.
-
Streaming updates are all bugged up lately and its realyl getting annoying. Connection is getting dropped ALL the freakin time.
-
I try not to complain too much, but streaming updates have been very unreliable lately as others have mentioned.
This is the 5th or 6th time since Christmas that I've gone 36 consecutive hours or more without streaming updates. Included in that was a 3 day stretch of zero streaming updates. I'm approaching 42 straight hours right now without streaming updates, but I can see from other comments above that some people are getting them. Regular VPS updates occur without issue. Before somebody says it must be my PC, please note that there are others in my area experiencing the same problems using different ISP's suggesting it is an Avast problem. I check this forum frequently on this issue, and judging from the comments people leave on their location, Europe seems to have much less of these problems that we do in the US. I'm in the Midwestern part of the US.
Somebody with Avast needs to address this situation and let us know what is being done to correct it. You can't sell me a product featuring streaming updates and then fail to provide it.
Thanks.

Connection established but no streaming updates here!
-
@ DavidR
I've now gotten some streaming updates. I've been noticing in the past week or two, even when the streaming updates seemed quite reliable, that there seemed to be gaps in the former regular pattern. What I mean is the xxxxxxxxxxx00 to xxxxxxxxxxx09 followed by xxxxxxxxxxx0a to xxxxxxxxxxx0f, and then xxxxxxxxxxx10 to xxxxxxxxxxx19 followed by xxxxxxxxxxx1a to xxxxxxxxxxx1f, etc. was fairly consistent over time. Now, there are usually gaps in this sequence of streaming updates. I see the same gaps in your picture.
I'm wondering if these missing updates are the result of recalled streaming submissions (possibly due to false positive) or server error.
-
Working very well for me since Sunday.
-
Getting stream updates from early afternoon. Update of VPS came automatically as usual without problem.
-
Streaming updates started about 1/2 hour ago for the first time since Monday P.M. Confirmed with another user in local area same approximate streaming update start time after two days of nothing.
What is the issue with our potion of the U.S. not receiving reliable streamed updates?

It isn't something that I get overly concerned about, I don't actively monitor them.

i know it keeps disconnecting but i was connected for 15 to 20 mins and no updates but i ran it manually and it downloaded a new Sig update
seems there not putting updates on streaming server
seems my server .def file is up to date
my servers.def last was modified on 2-12
i did screen shot of the stream url and attachment of servers.def file
i live again in California if that helps
last stream updates i received was on jan /24/2013
avast
please fix this issue
-
Still not receiving streaming updates. Florida location.
-
Once again, no streaming update connection. VPS updates o.k.
Please fix.
-
Right now are streaming updates working for me
-
Nothing for me (on V8).
-
Nothing for me (on V8).
No problems here.
-
Two days of zero streaming updates (again).
Does anybody from Avast read these comments? Perhaps they don't care to discuss in an open forum this ongoing problem? Maybe too much time and assets being spent developing a new product and not enough maintaining what they have?
-
Nothing for me (on V8).
No problem either and I have managed to get on avast8 beta 3.

I'm not receiving streaming updates in a reliable fashion. Often, there is no connection to the streaming servers. I believe that the problem lies in the server network, and it's not just a propagation problem. The servers are not available a lot of the time recently. Are most people having problems located in North America?
As streaming updates are a part of security, designed to fill the gap in protection until the regular VPS updates are released, those of us not receiving them are less protected. I have been receiving the auto VPS updates.

I would say absolutely the worst server connection issue is here in the U.S. judging from the comments of others as well as what I've written before.
If my memory is correct, there was an issue last fall with one of the servers somewhere up the line blocking access to Avast servers, but I think that was a location in Europe that was impacting everyone, not just NA or the U.S. Malwarebytes had a similar issue last year in which everybody that went through a particular server farm in the U.S. got blocked to the Malwarebytes server. I remember that one very well because I worked with one of their engineers trying to diagnosis the problem and ran several trace routes to identify were the problem was. In the Malwarebytes situation they weren't aware of it because they were testing from their other sites that never got routed through the problem server farm location.
I'm not a techie, just an average user, so I have no idea what the actual issue is. Whatever the problem is, it needs to be fixed from their end.
-
No there is definitely an issue inside avast's backend ... Last update received 4 hours ago, and connection etablished/not etablished ...

I agree, somebody needs to kick Avast's backend ;)

We are still not receiving streaming updates in the Midwestern U.S. VPS updates are updating and WebRep connects.
Zero (0) streaming updates since Feb 13 for me. During the last nine (9) consecutive days, I have received streaming updates only on four (4) of those days. Another user in my area has only received streaming updates on three (3) of those nine (9) days. Connect/Connection Not Established back and forth constantly. That is piss poor performance.
Why are you ignoring this issue Avast?
-
Streaming updates are important. While Avast is a very high quality product, this issue of not receiving streaming updates is disturbing especially when doing online banking and shopping. For this reason I have uninstalled Avast and switched to AVG 2013 which updates every few hours and has a very fast scanner. Until Avast resolves this issue I don't feel comfortable using it even though I feel it is the best AV product out there.
-
There's more to this than I originally thought. On my WinXP desktop, the streaming connection is shown as established and yesterday evening and today has been receiving streaming updates. It is connected via ethernet to the router.
This Win7 laptop is connected to the same router via WiFi. It's receiving VPS updates fine, but has had problems receiving streaming updates. It often shows streaming as not connected, but even when it shows connected no updates were received. Yesterday, I deleted all Avast rules from AIS firewall and rebooted. I then received streaming updates for 130215-1 VPS and had solid streaming connection for the rest of the evening. This morning on powerup, Avast updated to 130216-0 VPS. There is no streaming connection, nor have any streaming updates been received on this laptop while the desktop machine has received over 40 streaming updates today. Both machines are powered down at night, and the laptop is shut down often during the day, either manually or due to power settings. I have also done an Avast repair which didn't help this issue.
-
50 streaming updates so far (for today)
-
Yep, just 50 so far today.

Did I just waste my time posting this requested information or is somebody at Avast actually going to read this?

The WinXP machine was at 46 streaming updates the last time I checked, but there was no connection at that immediate time. Since my last post, my WIN7 laptop has established a streaming connection and is now at 25 streaming updates and climbing. I have a cable connection and am having no difficulty with it at all. I do live in the midwest as most of the people having problems. It's nice that streaming updates work in other parts of the world (truly), but that fact doesn't help explain why this area is having problems. Until the problem with the servers if found and fixed, there will continue to be reports from this area.
If Avast has something that we can use to help them find the problem, I (and likely others) am willing to try them. As the streaming updates are touted as a valuable part of the protection offered, those not getting them should rightfully consider themselves as not fully protected.
The laptop is now at 33 streaming updates, so catching up will take a while.
-
it worked for 1 night only last time i got them was Feb 14 12:30.56am
have no idea why it not working for me
-
I just got back home and when I powered up the laptop, Avast updated to VPS 130216-2 and shortly afterwards received streaming updates for this VPS version. Streaming server connection has been solid since powering up. Desktop, which has been on the entire day, has the same updates, 7 streaming so far. For now, servers are available in this area. Let's hope it continues to be so.

Sorry, but you should know better than to call a Beta thread "the main thread". Users with the streaming download problem are not going to go looking around for a Beta thread to find answers. Whether the server issue or whatever is at the root of the problem is impacting V7 and Beta users the same way, regular V7 users and people just coming here to search for solutions on their problems aren't likely to look in a Beta thread under the heading of "Child Boards". Plus, this thread was started on February 12. The Beta thread was started on February 15. Seems to me like this thread has been around long enough to get some official Avast attention. I'll continue to post here on this topic.
Thanks.

My streaming update just started a few minutes ago after the 130216-2 VPS update, so that may correct. Check to see if you've got the -02 VPS update for today. Good luck.

You only see 9 as there has also been a VPS update 130216-2, this includes the previous streaming updates so the previous streams are removed (50). Now the streams after VPS 130216-2 are in the 13021602_stream sub-folder only 9 so far.

As Klinker said, the 132016-2 VPS update would wipe the previous 50 streaming updates. The 9 match what I have, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=114950.msg896902#msg896902 (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=114950.msg896902#msg896902).

Gopher John (and others):
Pretty obvious we are having the identical issue here in the Midwest. I think Avast must have done something to fix this because I'm getting a constant connection to the Avast server, no matter which remote address my PC connects to. To test, I've rebooted and manually disabled the streaming updates through the GUI and no matter which remote address Avast connects to, it's now a steady connection...no more connected/disconnected like it had been doing all week (actually this has been going on since Christmas). In fact, as I type this three more streaming updates. Checked with another user in my area and they confirm streaming updates and a steady Avast server connection through their different ISP.
I'll continue to monitor the situation and check those server connections and post results here. If people can do the same perhaps we can make sure this is permanently resolved.
Thanks.
-
@Klinker,
Yes, I'm also seeing a solid connection to the streaming servers. Currently have 13 streaming updates. Many thanks to those that found the server problems and fixed them.
-
yaya it working now i will see if it working tomorrow
-
Here the Midwest U.S. streaming updates working fine....able to maintain server connection with no problems so far. Spoke with others in my area who have Avast (non-forum members) and some are receiving their first streaming updates since late January!!
Just watching the streaming update file on my PC I can see more streaming updates the last 16 hours than I've received all of February. If this is the way streaming updates are supposed to happen, it's pretty shocking how bad things have been since Christmas. Hopefully somebody with Avast will stay on top of things from this point forward.
-
It's strange, for 2 days I'm receiving ALL the streaming updates. I just need to wait 1~2 minutes after boot and I get a connection to cloud and system starts working.
-
it seems it working fine now thanks avast
-
No streaming updates for me since VPS update 130220-0. Four hours. Connection Established.
-
Yesterday was bad, today is kind of hit or miss. Also noticed that the GUI "Last Update Received" time/date stamp differs from the definition folder time/date occasionally.
-
Received some today (but only 2 so far) on my XP Pro, avast RC1 build. However, on my win7 avast7 netbook I have 25 so far today.
So it certainly isn't stable and I have had a connection established all of the time I've checked and no update since the last reported 20/02/2013 13:13:12.

I don't need to be told what I should or shouldn't do, I'm reporting the situation not asking for help.

Also still intermittent on 7 and 8 but as it is only Wednesday I have no concerns 8)

Mine shows streaming updates enabled but connection not established. What does that mean and how do I fix it?

It's the streaming servers, so there's nothing you can do. I think it was VlK that said work on those servers would be finished something this Thursday. For now, in a bit of a reversal, I've been receiving streaming updates (currently 44).
-
@Gopher John
Thanks for your reply.
Now it's showing connection established. How can I find out whether or not I've received any streaming updates?
-
Now it's showing connection established. How can I find out whether or not I've received any streaming updates?
You have to look in avast folder. There is folder called defs and in there is last VPS folder and folder named as 130220-0 stream. If there is not a such folder, then you didn't receive any. It shows itself after at least one stream update is downloaded.
Also, I've received now some stream updates but connection now is not established.
-
Dynaheir is correct. It is the Defs folder in the Avast install folder. For Win7 64 bit, it is C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs where the transient folders containing the VPS and streaming updates are.

Should be OK now, from the beta3 topic.
I've got a heads up from our operations team that all the system upgrades should now be done.
So, how's it looking on your side folks?
Thanks
Vlk
-
Dunno. I am not receiving stream updates again from the last VPS update.
-
Streaming update fail for last two days. Again, and again, and again with this problem. I mean it was o.k. for a little over a week, but I would have thought there would be a higher standard than that.
Hello, anybody at Avast listening?
-
Streaming update 13030400_stream has 18 updates in it so far today, so this looks like a back-end server issue.
