I just noticed today while doing some looking around in my logs that I keep getting the following messages that keep repeating quite often. What do they mean, and do I have any reason to be worried?

3/7/2009 6:14:27 PM   SYSTEM   1476   AAVM - scanning warning: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx:  (C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\_avast4_\unp175431033.tmp) returning error, 80004004.

3/7/2009 6:14:27 PM   SYSTEM   1476   AAVM - scanning error: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx: unhandled exception!, 7C3A497A.

any information is appreciated, thanks

That is the very reason why I keep out of the logs, they aren't very user friendly. I only ever look in the logs if errors are actually displayed to the screen and I doubt these were.

The entries are verbose and useful to those with the experience (not me) when debugging a problem.

It isn't unusual to get problems in scanning files, permissions, file types, etc. I just don't go looking unless there are regular errors to the screen and those errors displayed to the screen are usually more helpful to us.

This is why we asked for a full review of the logs schemes in avast 5, removing the verbose of the common log sections... Hope they listen to us.
