Hi,
As I was trying to implement the whitelist mode (have all apps blocked by default, especially new ones
), I made a few tests that nearly drove me crazy...
Basically, no matter what configurations, I simply could not make the whole thing to work : control which apps can connect and which cannot.
After one or 2 hours, I finally realized that the whole thing is only depending on whether Adblock Plus is running and authorized or not !!
To sum up:
Adblock Plus deactivated1- White list mode, Allow All Apps *not* ticked, general "core" apps ticked,
Amazon app ticked => Amazon is
working2- White list mode, Allow All Apps *not* ticked, general "core" apps ticked,
Amazon app *not* ticked => Amazon is
*not* workingAdblock Plus activated1- White list mode, Allow All Apps *not* ticked, general "core" apps ticked,
Adblock Plus ticked, Amazon app ticked =>
Amazon is working2- White list mode, Allow All Apps *not* ticked, general "core" apps ticked,
Adblock Plus ticked, Amazon app *not* ticked =>
Amazon is working3- White list mode, Allow All Apps *not* ticked, general "core" apps ticked,
Adblock Plus *not* ticked, Amazon app ticked =>
Amazon is *not* working4- White list mode, Allow All Apps *not* ticked, general "core" apps ticked,
Adblock Plus *not* ticked, Amazon app *not* ticked =>
Amazon is *not* workingIt seems Adblock Plus daemon is working more as a "proxy" instead of a "firewall"... and this proxy is placed before the Avast firewall making it useless...
I did not dig any much further, but it seems the behavior is analog when using the Black list mode...
Until further notice, you have to make a choice : use a Firewall (security) or a use Adblock plus (user experience)... Bye bye Adblock...
Many thanks for your help, Adrien
