Which previous security solutions did you have installed.?

Have you gone into computer management and then device manager and removed phantom network drivers.
This worked wonders for me.

None. I formatted Win 7 less than two weeks ago and I've only ever installed avast! and malwarebytes so a conflict of applications can't be a problem as I've run these two applications side by side for years without any problems.

You can try disabling new webshield (so it will be back to normal e.g old technology):

Go to C:\programdata\avast software\avast,
Find WebShield.ini, add the following lines:

[General]
UseStreamFilter=0

Restart PC. You may need to disable avast self defense (Settings - Troubleshooting).

As said before, disabling Web Shield works fine and it's back to normal. It's obviously some rare bug that some people have had (I've seen numerous other posts about Web Shield from other people saying the same thing). I'm just going to disable web shield until an update is rolled out and hopefully it works then.

This setting does not disable it, but "downgrades" it to previous technology (meaning local transparent proxy).

Oh, sorry dude, that sounds great then because before the update, I did not have the problem. Thanks dude, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I can't find a Webshield.ini file.
C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast <---where i looked.

Any ideas? Can I just create one? Are there any other lines beside the UseStreamfilter?

Why alter a file? Doing this could cause other bigger problems.

If all else fails re-install a previous version. if you still have the installer.

It's Programdata, not Program files :)
Copy from above.

It's safe. Lukas shared this tip because of my issues and it worked.

Could you provide a link?
I've seen this issue with v2014.9.0.2011
A link would be very helpful.
I like to bookmark things, that way I don't spend all day doing a search.

edit: Thanks for stepping in to help.  :)

Sorry, don't have link since it was via email :(
But, this should be last thing to do. I mean, after new release which hopefully fixes these things, it should be re-enabled. But as far as I know, it won't be done automatically. I might be wrong tho. Nothing bad, but still ;)

Hallo, we have discovered an issue in new WebShield implementation. This is probably reason of your problems. We are preparing fix for that.

Meanwhile, you can rollback to old WebShiled implementation. To do that, please

Go to C:\programdata\avast software\avast folder.

Find the WebShield.ini, file and add to this file following lines:

[General]
UseStreamFilter=0

Now restart „avast! Antivirus“ service, or reboot.

Please post here if disabling the Web Shiled solved your problem.

Thank you

This should do  8)
