What type of malware is a "cryp"?
« on: January 14, 2010, 10:14:38 AM »
hello,

This morning's update contained just two definitions.  One was for a Trojan and the other was for a cryp.

I have some idea what a Trojan is but the other definition is new to me.  Please tell me what these bad guys do.

Thank you

thank you for your prompt reply.

I fully live up to my logon name so if I get this wrong please understand.

The malware is transmitted in an encrypted file so the antivirus cannot see it during transmission.  After the malware has made its home on my hard drive the encryption is removed.  Now I have to count on avast catching it when it tries to run.

Is this approximately correct?

Thank you

Do you mean that you have an infection?

Check your computer for Malware with

update and run quick scan, click the button "remove selected" to quarantine anything found, and restart

No infections.  Just curious about something I had never seen.  I no longer care to discuss the topic.

Thank you
