What are your bugs?  Do you have slowdowns?  I don't have a problem with 3 computers using Avast! 5 (Vista and 7).  Did you look at the dates on posts in the Google search you did?  Overwhelming number seem to be from first quarter of the year, tapering off steadily as Avast! 5 matured. Sounds like you are caught in a time warp-I certainly hope Avast! 4.8 goes away soon so all the Alwil resources for the 130M+ users can be concentrated on 5.1, 5.x,  and 6 as described by VLK.

the success of companies is based in taking suggestion from his customers.

look at Symantec and Norton:

NAV was the best AV software for years, and now it is the worst av software.

Also might not hurt to, as someone mentioned to you here>>
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=65157.msg550451#msg550451,
let Avast! populate its cache, lessening drag on any resources.
Give it some time before you evict it.

do you work in the marketing department of avast?
No, I'm an user like you.

at least that you are happy losing money from customers.
Which customers will buy an outdated version of an antivirus?

Interesting... but kinda illustrates that your opinions about various products are different from the majority of users.
We listen to the suggestions (but of course have to filter them somehow, some things are simply not possible) - and most users are happy with avast! 5 (more than with avast! 4.x). I understand you, in particular, don't like it - but it's really not possible to please everyone, and you're really a minority here (regarding the "avast! 4.x vs 5.x" stuff, I mean).

And regarding Symantec, my personal opinion is exactly the opposite  - I'd say the recent versions of their product are pretty nice, but kinda suffer from the bad experience users had with their old versions (that were pretty bad).

 ;D

@peter50; You can keep ver.4 forever,
you just have to write your own virus definition/program updates

......nothing to it, right?
If you truly love ver.4, you will keep it alive.  ;)

minority? make a poll to see if avast 5 is really better and I bet $1.000.000.

btw, i am laughing a lot reading your comment that recent versions of symantec products are pretty nice...

the owner/ceo of symantec can't believe this...

There's no clear definition of "better", but:
- if you did a poll here, yes, a vast majority of users would vote for avast! 5, no matter what you bet
- as a programmer who knows the internals, I can certainly say that avast! 5 is better
- avast! 5 is used by more users than avast! 4.x
- the support guys have to solve way less problems they did with avast! 4
...

Anyway, this is really going nowhere, nothing said here can change what is going to happen, and it also can't change the fact that you'd disagree with that.
So, thread closed.
