How to get rid of this vermin? So far, it's been interfering only with tinyurl.com, stalling when going to the site and again when using it - but I want to get rid of it before it causes other damage.

Thanks for the suggestion. I already ran Malwarebytes (and SuperAntiSpyware), but nothing was found.
In fact, while Avast! and SAS find and prevent hundreds of problems regularly, Malwarebytes has *never* found anything on my PC (64-bit Windows 7).

you mean tracking cookies....avast and malwarebytes does not scan for cookies
Are cookies really spyware and are they dangerous?
http://superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=26
so what is it avast detect all the time?
did you run AdwCleaner?
if you still have problems.....from the same guide i gave you above, scroll down to OTL...
attach the OTL diagnostic logs and a malware expert will have a look later today..

Pivor with care in your browser, Browzar warns for the page wanting to install add-ons...
The script it seems very hard to be made responsive...
