Hi guys,ox popped up as well stating that
I just installed Avast and put inthe registration number. So, when I started it up, The welcome screen with the easy stpes came up and the avast console came up as well, BUT, a message box popped up and stated that resxx\mcshield.dll was needed. Now, to note, the wording in the easy steps box was blank and the program was not responding. I got the "Program not responding" box pop up after about a minute so I ended the task.
The other functions of avast seems to be working. I can go to the dfeatures of avast through the icon on the system tray like settings and the such. Its just when I open the avast console so I can get to the console itself, do i get that message about that missing .dll.
Update, I was able to get the text in the esasy steps box to show, so i clicked on the "do not show box again" and now, i have the console and am doing a scan of my computer. However, i still get that .dll message box. Any idea what i need to do?
Thanks!
Bob

This message appears to be (from a Google search) part of the McAfee security shield product.
Are you running the McAfee product as well?

If as Alan said it relates to McAfee security shield and you uninstaled it there might be remnants left behind.
Mcafee has a uninstall tool that you could run to ensure any possible remnants are removed.
