ACPI.SYS Question
« on: November 17, 2010, 06:16:38 AM »
On September 16th I purchased the Bart4 download directly from the Avast site.

I have burned 5 different "updated" images.

On 4 out of 5 Windows XP machines I have gotten the ACPI.SYS error.

I used other "free " linux based rescue media and was able to clear the machines from infection.

I do not want to bash the Avast Bart cd and very much hope I am doing something wrong.

Online research shows a number of people have the same problem. Some have used work arounds and tricks to make the Bart CD.

 work.

I am of the opinion that for the 149 dollar purchase price I should have something a LOT less finicky.

Please help me become a believer in this software...I'm all ears !!!!!!!!!!

you probably downloaded the BART 2 cd, if you download beta 3 then your problem will probably be gone...
the link is all over the forum so shouldnt be hard to find ;)

but actually right now i would not advise to even consider buying this product. Its been on beta 3 for over a year now and development
is halted as far as we know at this moment.

Thanks WPN,

I appreciate your information.

I thought I was using the bart 3 link.....and did use a link that a customer support rep sent me.

If this project is dead.....which is what all indications are pointing too.......I think I will be requesting a refund.

It is not very ethical to sell something like this for 149 dollars in my opinion.

it should be taken off their for pay products in my humble opinion.
