Set Exclusions for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) in avast! Antivirus v8.0.1497

There are 2 methods of doing the MBAM exclusions, the Global Exclusions, and the other way, manually including the folders in each scanner section.
I will do the Global Exclusion method, it will exclude all paths from scanning and shield protection, letting MBAM happily do its thing without interference from avast!
There are a minimum of 2 folders and 1 URL that should be excluded, depending on how you have set up your PC.
The exclusions I'm showing is for a PC that set up wit both ADMIN and USER accounts, with this setup there are 3 folders and 1 URL that should to be excluded.
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
  • C:\Users\[whatever name] PC\AppData\Roaming\Malwarebytes
  • C:\Users\[whatever name] User\ AppData\Roaming\Malwarebytes
  • *.mbamupdates.com
- Open avast! > Settings > Global Exclusions > (Tab) File paths
- Open browse
- In the new window expand:
  • >Computer
  • >OS (C:)
  • >Program Files (x86)
- Check mark Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- OK

Starting with the 1st folder, this is where you should end up.

The next exclusion that will be done is the folder that includes the QUARANTINE file.
This will have to be excluded in the ADMINISTRATOR account as well as the USER(s) account if there is one. Guest account(s) as well.

- Open avast! > Settings > Global Exclusions > (Tab) File paths
- Open browse
-
In the new window expand:
  • >OS (C:)
  • >Users
  • >Michael PC
  • >AppData
  • >Roaming
- Check mark Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- OK

Repeat this process for any ADMINISTRATOR(PC), USER or GUEST account.

When you are done it will look similar to this:

The last exclusion is the URL that MBAM receives its updates from.
The data may be intercepted by avast! and quarantined causing corrupted definitions or program updates.

- Open avast! > Settings > Global Exclusions > (Tab) Urls
- Add
- *.mbamupdates.com (copy/paste or manually enter address).
- OK

When you are finished it should look like this:

Set Exclusions for avast! Antivirus in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) v1.75.+

There are only 2 locations to exclude avast! Antivirus in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
  • C:\Program Files\AVAST Software
  • C:\Windows\Temp\_avast_
- Open MBAM > (Tab) Ignore List > Add
In the little window that opens expand to here:
  • >Computer
  • >OS (C:)
  • Program Files
- HIGHLIGHT, AVAST Software
- OK
This is where you should end up when doing the 1st folder:

- Proceed with the 2nd folder

Personally I have never found the need to exclude MBAM Pro and the only add c:\windows\temp\_avast_ (where avast unpacks/sends files to be scanned) in the MBAM Pro, Ignore List.

Personally I feel we have too many stickies already and this when this would only be applicable for those running avast and MBAM (essentially the MBAM Pro version). Luckily I'm not a moderator, but I think they too would be looking to keep stickies to a minimum.

"Personally I feel".....you added nothing to this post, your comment is nothing more than a criticism of my post.
Your post has added nothing to this thread, and, let face it,,,is SPAM!

@David
Yes, I have been running MBam and Avast side by for lots a years and never have had to add exclusions on either my XP or now on Win 8.1.
I guess some folks find it useful. :)

Personally I feel your post is basically a waste of time and space since this is a question which is rarely asked.
To add a sticky is asking a bit much. As far as mutual exclusions go...some do and some don't. No one is criticizing
you in the least. Just because someone has a difference of opinion with you does not constitute spam.

We can see your point we just disagree with you...that's all.

Strange that you wait over 18 months to respond, but my response is none the less relevant (certainly not spam) as many people haven't needed to set any exclusions in avast for MBAM and I have been using the two together for many years.

After 18 months and two major program updated the interface and settings have changed.

Well, personally I thank you for this - I've run Malwarebytes and Avast side-by-side for years, but realize that as programs and definitions update over time, there exists the possibility of bad interactions. So far I've not had to exclude anything on either side for smooth operation, but if I do experience issues it's good to know there's info on setting these exclusions. I for one appreciate it so, thanks.
