I forgot my avast password, how can I recover it or get a new password without deinstalling/installing it?

Which operating system are you using?
There's a way to reset the password but you need to be logged on as an administrator.

I´m using windows xp professional (student version) and am logged in as administrator. avast is updated to build 4.1.342

You have posted in a topic that isn't far short of 5 years old and if you had bothered to read the post prior to your's and the link contained you would have discovered that you will need to reinstall avast.
