Any news on avast! 4.5 ?
« on: August 05, 2004, 07:49:19 PM »
Its August already and i'm wondering how's progress on version 4.5? It was mentioned that it will be released in the end of july, beginning of August.
Any problems or simply not ready yet? Or what will be the new features?
Thanks

Well Rejzor, I saw the avast 4.5 version as I had to translate it  8)
I think it won't be problems but before the summer vacations we will have the upgrade. I think not all the languages are done. Help files are not finished yet... I don't know about other technical problems (if any  ;D).

4.5 has still not been closed so it will take some more time...

Also, we're somewhat aligning the release of av4.5 with the release of ADNM as these two take advantage of each other in a number of aspects...

Patience... :)

What exactly do you mean by extensionless files support, Rejzor?

Simply that avast! will scan files that don't have any extension. Right now you have to set to Scan all files in order to do this, but we don't want to scan movies, pictures and music right?

I think you can use the question sign as the mask to enable scanning for extensionless files and files with a single character as the extension (which is somehow better than all the files).
I guess it shuldn't be a problem to add something special for no-extension... but what? (I mean, how to express the "no extension" mask in the input field?)

Hi  RejZoR - does this mean it will work 'normally' with Firefox then?

What about the wildcard character # ? Is it currently used by Avast to express something else?

Also, any updates on the upcoming Avast 4.5? Will it be finished before this month? ETA?

I know that the # sign is used in the e-mail function but don't know if that has any bearing.
