Well mine has changed, for the last three auto updates my XP pro has ceased the double update audio, it now gives a Ding, Ding, then the pop-up notice and single audio notification.

I still haven't seen/heard any double notice on my win7 netbook.

On my WIN7 netbook it is not a "double notice" (only one visual notice) but there is a double audio message saying the update is finished.

On my XP I have it set to give me a message when an update is ready to be installed so that I can decide when, I no longer get these messages at all on my XP.

I'm getting the messages to update on XP now.... perhaps a false alarm as I was not patient enough but I had been connected over many days several times for hours prior to getting the message and the definitions updated over 10 incremental versions because of the lack of message sent until now.  So it appears that the only issue remaining is the "double audio notice" that is supposed to be fixed at some point.

Agreed, avast knows about the issue ( especially after 13 pages ) so further posting is is not needed and pointless.

For someone new to this thread, where might the answer be? Which page, which reply number? I don't blame users for replying without reading the whole thread. Who wants to read through 185 replies and 13 pages? There should be a comment, 'We are aware of the problem which will be fixed in the next program update." Then lock it so someone can actually find the answer.

But--it's not fixed. I got the same double sound when I booted up today.

Side note. I can't figure Twitter out. I post something and it never shows up. Does it only show on my Twitter page? If I want to see an answer, I have to go back to the other page? If that's the case, it's ridiculous and I won't be using Twitter.

Supposedly, it was fixed by the latest database update. I guess we'll have to wait for the next one to see if that's true.

Certainly wasn't fixed at the LAST engine update... that was on the Saturday 28 July!! So someone is confused or telling 'porkies' on Twitter, leave you to decide.

Lets be sure about the version 7.0.1456 it required a reboot to complete, it is still double sounding, therefore not fixed.  If it wasn't fixed what was the engine update for?

Why can't they just get on with it, get it right and make everyone happy? This is more than just a glitch as I said before, just how many more engine updates are going to go by?

I don't care if you are Russian. Tell that to the guy that I responded to who posted in Red. This program is broken and no one from Avast seems to care. What ever happened to pleasing the customer. What ever happened to quality checks. This was obviously caused by ONE update over 2 weeks ago. It it going to take divine intervention to fix this. Avast can count me out as a future customer after my license expires. I am a firm believer in quality and a security product should not be flawed and the company that puts this product out should have a fix for it in a few days and not wait for the next update which seems to be a secret.
