slow connection since upgrading to paid version of avast

I had been using the free version of avast for about a year and recently upgraded to the paid version.  Since doing so I notice a slowness when connecting to a website, even the home page coming up.  Help!

If you have been upgrading over the top of other versions for the last year then i would suggest a clean install, first read then download this tool http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility and the version of avast that you require if you didn't save your last download, uninstall avast via remove programs then reboot into safemode and run the removal tool for all versions of avast you have installed in the past.

When completed reboot back to normal mode and reinstall avast then insert your license from your email in the manner you did previously.
