Yes, on demand only (not real time).

It's not available in the repositories. You need to download it from avast! site.

It's a free registration. http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php
The process is the same for Linux and Windows.

If your Distro uses Synaptic, just completely Uninstall Avast! from there.

Normally, find Avast! for Linux in Synaptic, right click on it, select Uninstall, hit Apply.
