[Wishlist] For avast! 8 - Suggestions and discussion
« on: November 15, 2012, 01:16:35 PM »
I wish some features on the firewall part: cleaning obsolete app rules, sorting them by path, a restricted mobile data (tether) mode.
For the free version, I would like to see a virtual keyboard (as there is no SafeZone).
About the interface, I have an old wish: themeable interface (not skin, but only the colors).

Besides what we always want: stability, performance, proactive detection...

What are your wishes?  8)

When I stumble upon a site that Avast blocks it would be nice to have an option to have the site reported to Avast and from them to all users. Also to change the sites Webrep.

Why report a site that avast already blocks.

Alerts by the web shield on a site if multiple avast users visit that site and get alerts, that eventually is filtered into the network shields malicious sites list, blocking access to that site. So you wouldn't even see anything on the webrep.

There are already plans to incorporate more virus labs information into the webrep, no details or time frame. However the WebRep already includes some security based tools such as the phishing filter and also the Site Correct function.

Thinking on other points...
What would be an avast antitheft for notebooks (like Prey)?

+ 10 interesting idea  ;)

Also i've got an old suggestion: to add pop up when usb flash drive was plugged in: "USB flash drive was plugged in. Do you want to scan it for viruses?
- quick scan
- full scan
- do not scan"
and checkbox: do not ask about it
Some users think that it is a good idea. ( http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=104401.75 )
I think it must be optional.

Improve the behaviour shield...let it even block the suspicious/malicious events it records  8)

Improve the behaviour shield...remove the continue execution button from the sandbox pop up..make it more transparent...better heuristics.

I would like to see a "VPN option" included in the Internet Security version of Avast (possibly Secureline)
I'm noticing the option included in other security suites and I think an option to operate through a vpn is a great idea
But first make Avast work with Win8 64Bit consistantly ::) :)

Good ideas: the feature and making it optional.

Well, into AIS it would be a paid option due to the bandwidth usage.
How -http://hotspotshield.com/en could deliver it for free only with ads? ???

Well, MC Shield is a behavior/proactive detector. Maybe it should be bought :)

Parental Control
Asked a lot of times to be in the paid versions.
Is there is enough time to develop it for avast! 8 :)

Tune-Up
Hmmm... I don't think so... It's not security related... Goes "bloatware" imho...

I would like to see an option (configurable via the GUI) to delay a virus database update on the system boot (5 minutes or so).
