Error: Archive Is Password Protected. (42056)
« on: March 10, 2013, 05:10:30 PM »
The results after a scan shows atleast 40-100+ files that are:

Error: Archive Is Password Protected. (42056)

Just a sample of the files are:
C:\Users\user\Downloads\install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe|>images|bgbody.png
C:\Users\user\Downloads\install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe|>images|bgbodyOpenX.png
C:\Users\user\Downloads\install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe|>images|bgButton.png
C:\Users\user\Downloads\install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe|>_css\default.css
C:\Users\user\Downloads\install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe|>_css\openx.css
C:\Users\user\Downloads\install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe|>_host\app.js
C:\Users\user\Downloads\install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe|>_host\bundleloader.js

The list is quite long. If I must, I can post the full list.
Its been like this for a month or so, after I installed the new flashplayer.
This doesn't happen on my other Windows 7 64-bit system with avast free 7, but Im not sure if its got the same flash player.

Should I be worried?

I have Windows Vista 32-bit and Avast Free 7, Thankyou.

Had the same problem long time ago.Just delete Adobe flash player installers from Downloads folder.
I think I had message like "Avast couldn't scan some files" or something.

Does deleting it from the Downloads folder affect flash player or anything?

No, you shouldn't be worried. The archives are not a direct threat for your computer even if they contain a viruses. Avast scans by default the archives. Avast can't check arhives with passwords, but when an archive(with password or not) extract its content it will be scanned and if there are any viruses, they will be found. Don't worry. Most likely the password protected archives don't cotain viruses- you are protected. Flashplayer is not the reason.

What are the names of the files? If they are an instalation programs which you downloaded from adobe.com you can delete them.

Well, if you want the full list that might take awhile, is there a way I can copy and paste the results log?

The files in the download folder, not in the log. :)

Oh... All I see is: install_flashplayer11x32_aih.exe unless you mean ALL the files in my download folder, which there are 71 items, but that might take a while to type..

If you have installed Adobe flashplayer, you can delete this file. If you don't installed it, you can install it and delete it.

Thank you!!
But, there are other files that are Error: Archive Is Password Protected. (42056) in the results but I didn't mention it because I thought it might have to do with FPS Creator (something I bought) and not avast but I'll post it anyway?
Just a sample of the 100+ possibly 200+ files:

C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\editors\gridedit\temp.fpm|>header.dat
C:\Users\user\Downloads\FPSCreator_Upgrade_116.zip|>$_OUTDIR\Files\mapbank\samples\GS11-SuperAntiGravityScript.fpm|>header.dat

etc

Again, nothing to worry about? Just making sure... Thanks again

Leave them, if you delete them some programs may stop working. You can try scanning them from the context menu(right click). Not a threat.

I remember also having around 100 files that couldn't be scanned and they were located
everywhere but after I deleted some Adobe installer in Downloads folder Avast didn't
find anything and everything was OK
