Multiple mail sent from outlook express

Hi all,
I am using outlook express 6 and Easy SMTP server version 2.5 running on 127.0.0.1: I need this because this is a notebook, and it must send emails without reconfiguring outlook whenever the connection to internet si changed.
Using this setup, I get an error on outlook express (invalid recipient, 550). The strange thing is that the email is sent out multiple times!!
switching to a "real" SMTP server (eg. mail.whatever.it) solves the problem.
From previous tests, I found out that in some cases a mail with a 1.8MB attachment is sent out multiple times, and I solved that issue incrementing the client's timeout.
can I increment the timeout for the SMTP server in avast4.ini? How can I do this? I didn't find out how to do this.

Outlook is doing the same thing to me, timing out but sending multiple emails to the receipient. It all started when I got the full AVAST program? This is only going on on my desktop. My laptop only has the free version and doesn't do this. I'm about to uninstall unless I can get this fixed. AVAST won't respond.
