Has Avast been cracked?
« on: April 23, 2013, 12:55:54 PM »
Hello. I turned on my PC this morning, and I got a pop-up from Avast asking me to activate my trial period for Avast Pro. I activated my Avast (home edition) 4 months ago, and it said it was valid for 365 days.

Is this legit, or is it scamware?

Here is a screencap of it-

This sounds like some sort of mistaken upgrade to pro version..

you use awsclear.exe from here: www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

and then download your free copy of avast from here: www.avast.com/free

OBS,this hit for the free registeration and dont click on upgrade to paid or pro version anywhere, many people make a mistake ;D

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page (in the image you posted), is there an 'Other Options' section ?

If so open that and use the "Switch me back to avast! free" option.

Have you used system restore recently ?
If so we have seen a number of instances like this after the use of system restore.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Hello,

unfortunately this is a known bug, which will be fixed in next update. For now please uninstall and install again avast! Free version.

Regards,
Martin
