Yea I have had to same problem. I still don't know how to fix this.
I have Firefox with Noscript, Adblock Plus and WOT set to block, Malwarebytes, Avast Free 8, Comodo Firewall 6, Sandboxie set to let only my browser have internet/running access and common sense. ^_^

There's nothing to fix.
Site blocking only works for http.
XP SP3 - avast! 9.0.2018 - CIS 3.14 [FW/D+] - MBAM 1.75 [On Demand] - Firefox ESR 24.4 [NS/ABP/EHH/BP] - Thunderbird 24.4 [EM/CH]

Since the Site blocking utilises the Web Shield to change the page display to indicate the site has been blocked, this can only be done on http sites/urls as that is the traffic that is redirected through the web shield localhost proxy.

You could use the HOSTS file to block those or some other HOSTS file manager software. Some firewalls also allow you to add URLs to block lists.
