Error Memory/ 5th Installation/ Not Working
« on: October 24, 2013, 05:10:07 PM »
I have installed and uninstalled Avast 2014 on my windows 7 64bit PC about 5 plus times now. It simple does not work! Please see the last error and ONLY error I have gotten.

Please help me understand how such an amazing Anti-Virus went from perfect to trash over night?

Thanks

I also have win 7 64 bit os and am unable to get avast AIS working on my system. I did receive a memory error one time but my consistent issue is that all shields are off and I get an RPC error measage on the ui. I have tried many times to uninstall and submitted a ticket and the tech responded by telling me to do exactly what I told him I already did.. it proves that he didn't read the ticket I submitted where I explained the steps I took. Maybe these steps will help you. They didn't help me.

> If you have Windows 7 or Vista, either install avast! with UAC disabled (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Turn-User-Account-Control-on-or-off) or run the setup file as an administrator (right-click on the avast! setup file and from the Drop Down Menu select the "Run As Administrator" option).

UPDATE:

I uninstalled Avast and I download and installed the links Alikhan gave here. It fixed the problem and now works!

Also, the only problem I have is that the firewall is not turning on, even after turning windows off. Any advice?

See... I told some people the online installer works in some cases, whereas the offline doesn't. Anyways, I'd suggest a repair now of Avast.

The final thing you can try is do another clean install but use this uninstaller...

http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/

Then download the online install files I posted before.

Once you have uninstalled Avast... check if Device Manager if there are any NDIS firewall avast drivers. If they are remove them and then reinstall.

If this is not to work, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

You're welcome.

Did you need to remove any drivers from device manager?
