Safezone and downloaded files
« on: February 09, 2014, 03:56:43 PM »
How can i see downloaded files under safezone desktop, under normal desktop ?
I have downloaded a pdf file while conected to a site under safezone session, and i can see the file on file manager browser still under safezone, but while on normal desktop browser, the file is not visible anymore.
Is there a way to have access to the file while back on normal browser ?
Please help me.

I use avast free so don't have the safezone - since the safezone is completely isolated from the desktop, it isn't surprising that you can't see files inside the safezone.

But I believe there is a setting inside the safezone to save downloads to your normal downloads folder, this would make them available in the normal desktop mode.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I believe you can't do it.I've seen no settings to move a downloaded file.
AFAIK the safezone is designed mainly for banking, shopping and secure transactions.
Partial quote from the help file:
Quote
Unlike the avast! Sandbox, which is intended to keep everything contained inside so that it cannot harm the rest of your system, the avast! SafeZone is designed to keep everything else out.

The sandbox does however allow downloads to be retrieved.
Hope this helps.

Safezone is "not" meant for everyday browsing. It is for secure transactions ie; banking, shopping.
I have Avast Internet Security and I hardly ever use Safezone or the on-demand sandbox.
I'm not a big fan of sandboxes.

The only reason I bought AIS was it was on sale/special and I wanted to support avast.
I could easily revert back to the free version and it wouldn't affect me at all.
Everything I need is in the free version.

DavidR is correct.
If you engage SafeZone and click the "Bars" at top right you will find 'Settings', You have to then choose "Advanced Settings" at the bottom and scroll to bottom of those settings, where "downloads" options are. :)

Thanks for the clarification, not having the SafeZone, I was working from memory of what I thought I had seen in the forums.

Hi, I don't agree.  :) I just changed those settings to download to the Desktop. Please look at this link to be sure I'm doing what you say needs to be done. http://s26.postimg.org/ilvymrkcp/DSCN0054.jpg I had to use my camera since  a screencapture program will not work on safezone.  :)

I then downloaded firefox portable and then clicked in the browser to open the downloads location. This is what I got. Link: http://s26.postimg.org/rse9a1pl5/DSCN0056.jpg
And of course the download is not on the desktop.

I'd like to know how to make this work to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks
