Last Popup/Fix Now

I'm sure this "fix now" thing is trying to get me to install Google Chrome but I won't.  Have seen a lot of ad popup's but first time I've seen this one.

You're right about the ad pushing the Chrome browser.
As for the rest, your browser is a personal preference and as long as
what you're using is current and always being updated. the choice is yours.
I'm one of those users who has made Chrome my default browser long before
my avast! Free ever "recommended" it to me.

This might be its first time out (I haven't seen it yet), but it is essentially no different to the previous Browser Vulnerability IE8 and end of XP Support displayed in the GUI (image1 attached) or as a popup; to try and get you to install Chrome.

Click the Fix Now and I have no doubt it would advise using Google Chrome, but you don't have to proceed with it even if you click the Fix now. It takes you to a web page (see image extract) that you click to 'Download' not sure if that would be a download and install instruction (I wouldn't go that far in my checking).

In my opinion, avast should not bother people with these kind of pop-ups.
They have nothing to do with their software.

I have spent all my time this week removing Avast from customers systems.

The anger and resentment these adverts and pop-ups have caused is growing by the day.

My colleagues in the other shops and 2 service centres  are doing the same, having been inundated with calls from angry users.

People buy security software to avoid and prevent crap like this. Even the Business/Endpoint suites get this garbage.

I was trying the new beta, today I get adverts suggesting I should get better security .......... so Avast9 AIS isn't secure anymore ?

This week I have seen GrimeFighter, SecureLine, and now Chrome pop-ups .............

Well, simple answer , follow the customers and remove this intrusion .  Avast has been replaced.

Just received a pop-up about a St. Patricks day offer.
Sjees, I don't live in Ireland and I am not religious...
I paid for what I want.
I did not pay for bullshit pop-ups that have nothing to do with avast as anti-malware (security) software.

Since avast went to NASDAQ, they are also have started to use the ridiculous "sale/promotion" things as US companies do.
It works for those fools in the US, but not in the rest of the world!

Eddy, it doesn't work well in the US, either.  My AIS subscription expires in October this year.  If this crap is still going on then, I will seek another security solution.  I've already disabled the VPS update notifications, and am not seeing them currently but shouldn't have to do so.

You might be surprised Eddy to find out that there are a lot fewer "fools" even in this country
than most corporations think. 
(By the way, Corporations aren't the only ones who think they're pushing things on the "unsuspecting" masses.)

At least there is a way to turn them off, but then you wont know that avast has updated not like you knew before with version 9 what the adverts were supposed to be.

I know several AV that dont show any update popup.... but they will give a popup if something is wrong or security related

My virus definitions had already been updated before I got the ad popup.

Cast, the notification should be about the update not a advertisement or a announcement about something else.
