upgrading machines
« on: November 13, 2005, 06:09:32 PM »
Hi, I've just bought 10 x 12month licences for AV Pro, if I upgrade any one of my machine within the year can I re-enter the same licence?  (eg, purhcase a new machine and throw an old one out that had previously been registered with avast pro). Many thanks...

The answer is Yes.  :)

Thank you for responding so quickly.  I will now license all machines without having to worry about purchasing again when I come to renew them, which I know will be soon for 2 of them.

However, out of curiosity if I installed the 10 user license key onto 11 machines would one eventually stop updating/be refused from Avast update server?

Thanks again.

(I have been a devotee McAfee (as I thought Norton was rubbish) user for 3 years until I recently used Avast - it really knocks socks off the competition)

Currently, there's no check like this built into avast (or our updating servers). Currently we try to specialize on banning keygens and pirated keys in general...

Of course, this does not mean that you're allowed to do it - it's just that technically there's currently no mechanism to prevent it.

Thanks

Many thanks, esp. for your honesty.  Reading other posts on this forum and how great avast is I don't think it would be abused - why bite the hand that feeds! - it seems the hole setup and philosophy with 60 days free trial, free for home/non commercial use and a good price for pro and bulk buys is the ultimate setup and would make people want to pay for avast and see it grow - in return it keeps us all protected and able to use our pc's.  If only all other software vendors adopted this attitude!

best regards
