mirroring problems HTTP error (403)
« on: November 18, 2005, 10:28:46 AM »
hello,
i hava a problem with my adnm.
When ever i start mirroring everything looks fine, it starts working and downloading.
Whenever it is time to "download the setif_av_net-ad-ab.vpu" file mirror.exe searches on all availible servers and at least stops and gives me this message:

Error (20000006): Other HTTP error (403), while trying 70.87.113.28:3128/http://download29.avast.com/iavs4x/setif_av_net-ad-ab.vpu

and note, that I am able to reach all the servers. Maybe the file is missing??
I don't know. Can anybody help me with that??

The file seems to be there. Is the problem still present?

Yes, it is.
I just tried it out.
Here's the part out of my mirror.log. Maybe it helps.

You are using squid proxy server at 192.168.1.2:3128. Do you have it set also in Internet Explorer? Try to download that file from IE:
http://download20.avast.com/iavs4x/setif_av_net-ad-ab.vpu
and copy it to mirror folder (along with other vpu files).

If download in IE succeeds, try to change it in mirror.ini:
[mirror]
http_proxy_type=1
http_proxy_address=
http_proxy_port=

Hello,
no, we are using the AVM KEN

I tried the way you described and all I got was a blank page.
Page title was http://download20.avast.com/iavs4x/setif_av_net-ad-ab.vpu.

Then I tried the same with other filenames (for example av_net_dll409-37.vpu) out of the mirror folder and all filenames I used where working.

I just had the same problem

just so there is a solution on the forum....

Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > Lan settings, untick > Use a proxy server for your LAN. Click OK twice.

@mattbaj
your solution totally hangs on the fact that the firewall allows other computers then the proxy to go tru too. Many firewalls are setup (by network administrators) to allow only certain computers (proxy, email) to access internet, the rest get blocked to force them to use the proxy server....

im not saying ur sollution doesnt work, it will when the firewall is open for it, but it is possible that it wont work for the bigger networks where there are seperate administrators for system administration and network administration
