How do I remove Avast completely from my computer?
« on: July 14, 2006, 03:32:45 PM »
I have tried to un-install avast from my computer unsuccessfully.
Error messages that show up are:AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error;a-ball icon in system tray.
or shows AVAST!--a setiface error has occurred-2
I would really like to remove Avast completely from my computer. Please guide me in the right direction to do so.
Sincerely,
shira getting frustrated ??? >:( ???

First (re)try to remove it via Add-Remove programs. If that fails, please use this tool:

This should do the trick.

This looks like a failed install and subsequent problem with uninstall.

If it is your intentions to reinstall and you still get the setiface error try this:
For XP, try Windows, Run and type:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\setiface.dll",RunSetup

For AAVM subsytem detected and RPC error. http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-other-questions.html#idt_1539
