Version 4.7 Home Edition Graphic Problems
« on: July 24, 2006, 05:18:58 AM »
This is the second time something like this happened since my doing a clean install of Windows XP Home Edition two weeks ago.  I opened the program and used the drop down menu to view the Log Viewer.  That line with the icon is still on my screen.  I am going to have to either restart or shut down in order to get rid of this.  Is there any way to fix this permanently?

Are you sure this is only avast related? I mean, is avast the only application with troubles?
Are your video card drivers updated?
When does this occur? At any time or just when your computer is being stressed (to many applications opened, etc.).

What is your Graphics Card (ATI) ?
If ATI, are you using the Catalyst Control Center ?
What Driver version are you using as Tech said is it the latest ?

I believe there has been a couple of posts on something similar so a forum search might return more information. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=22354.msg185410#msg185410

I just went to Device Manager and did the updates on as many video components as I could.  My system is a Gateway Solo 1450 laptop with Pentium III ruining Windows XP Home Edition.  My hard drive is 30GB and there is 11.3 free space.  I just opened the program and searched for program updates.  From the drop down menu "Program Update" is still on the screen.

I should also have mentioned that my graphics card does not appear to be ATI.

Solved:  I just changed the skin from the silver panel to the second option.  The problem does not seem to occur.  Thanks to all who wrestled in some way with this, as otherwise it was a good program.  I would have hated to switch over a small but annoying problem like this.

Thanks for letting us know the resolution to the problem. You can also download other skins or opt for the no skin interface, Program Settings, Common, untick the skin options, see image.
