Hello OObi...

Right click the avast! icon in your system tray. The option to start a scan is the second listing from the top I believe.

Hope this helps.

I've tried this before and I forgot what happened. Either way, it didn't work. I'm trying it now and not getting anything. Does it just happen out of sight? There is no progress bar or anything like that?

Does the interface open?
If you run C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimpl.exe will it open?
If you run C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimp2.exe will it open?

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

If that doesn't work try, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security
