Avast taskbar icons have disappeared
« on: June 21, 2007, 01:16:38 PM »
Hello.  I have XP and Avast 4.7, and I've just noticed that the Avast taskbar icons - not any others - have disappeared and I can't get them back.  I read a topic in a similar vein and the tech reply just recommended doing a repair and if that failed a remove/reinstall - no advice on what happened to the icons (that person had lost all their taskbar icons, not just the Avast ones).  I'd like advice on what happened and how to get them back, thanks.

If a reinstall does not solve you seem to have another software blocking the installation of avast.
Something like Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc.

1. Check the option in the Appearance tab of settings.
or
2. Repair your avast installation through Control Panel.
or
3. Make a link to ashdisp.exe in your startup folder
or
4. Add the path to ashDisp.exe into a value named avast! in the Windows Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
