Registration expired and not getting a key
« on: November 13, 2007, 04:01:49 AM »
 Hi
My Avast key expired and I can't seem to get a new key sent to me. It lets me reregister fine but I never get an E-mail sent to me. I have tried it 6 or 7 times. Any ideas?

Hi bulletbob

Can't test myself because I've no need to register right now. Only have really elementary suggestions like:

Are you registering at the real Avast site  e.g. http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php ? (Best to follow the link within the program - see screenshot)

Does your ISP filter POP or IMAP email for spam?

I am going to the right place. It lets me register and then says to wait for my E-Mail. My spam filters are turned off. I do kind of think it is an E-mail issue of some sort. It has always worked  in the past.
Thanks

Can you check your email through webmail?

I would say it is 'more' than likely to be a filter, you might have yours off, but your ISP as Vladimyr said might also operate a spam filter. Check if they do operate spam filtering and if so have them allow avast.com or if they need to be more specific, register @ avast.com (without the spaces).

Try using a different domain email address, if you haven't got one you could get a free Yahoo one, which has worked in the past to receive the registration key.

I had the same problem.
I used my email form portal web-site - not pop e-mail.

I solved it by changing the e-mail to my internet company e-mail (that i got form them, and using outlock - pop e-mail), then i got the e-mail with the new registration number.
