The good news is that the 5 years ProPlus license will be free! (419 Software requires a notarized copy of your birth certificate and your credit card details and bank account password for identification purposes only.) http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20890846- There's no way I'm going to give out that info!!!

Yes, it's the way it works I like. VERY light on resources and no definitions to download. Already installed it. Goodbye AVast!

It doesn't interfere with Avast either, so I kept both for now!

PlaceboAV from 419 Software Development, the Nigerian anti-malware experts, is absolute magic!
The word "placebo" means "a harmless substance given to a sick person instead of medicine, without telling them it is not real", does it? A FREE Nigerian miracle? I know only "FREE Nigerian letters". Check it with Rogue Remover first.

Hi malware fighters, I don't know if promoting rogue AV like PlaceboAV is not an offense, read this here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3783&mode=threaded&pid=14480and we all would know better, this comes in the category SnakeOil for April Fool's day, Read this here as quoted from DOXdesk: Today's AV is a dead loss. But you can't simply not install any, or everyone will complain. That's where PlaceboAV comes in! It's the fantastic anti-virus solution that's super-fast and absolutely reliable... because it does nothing at all. PlaceboAV - Ultimate anti-virus solution!! Protect your PC! Just not very much. Download now, FREE!
Yes, new from DOXdesk, PlaceboAV is just as effective as leading anti-virus software—that is, completely ineffective—whilst having no negative impact on system performance, and never bugging you with extraneous errors.
Get the full performance out of your computer, in total peace of mind because there's a little icon in your system tray so you must be safe. And if you're worried that your protection isn't up to date, open the program window, and simply click the Update button for all the latest definitions!
(NB. Since there are no definitions, the Update function does not actually bother to contact the definitions server, and just pretends to load updates. This is more efficient on network bandwidth. And also there is no definitions server.)
Download PlaceboAV now! An unbelievable feature-set packed into just 56KB of executable*! Lordy, it's a miracle! And it's free!
And! As Well! Purchase PlaceboAV Plus Pro now! It's got all the great features of PlaceboAV Free edition, plus you can pay $30 a year for it! Awesome!
DOXdesk is not responsible for any viruses you get whilst using PlaceboAV under the impression it is actually doing something. Well, we probably are responsible, but we're not going to do anything about it and you'll not get a penny out of us. Go away now. ] polonus

Yes, it's a joke. It's not a rogue. Mostly someone taking a shot a antivurus programs' inability to keep them 100% protected. See my first post Tongue in check technology at it's best.

Hi oldman,
Yes, I did not expect anything otherwise. That is why I write this on the latest nightly version of Minefield (Build 2008080303). Know why? Want to know why Minefield.... ? Sooner or later something will go BOOM ! and I will be picking bits of my computer out of my eyebrows. Have a nice day,
Damian

Yes, it's a joke. It's not a rogue.
Mostly someone taking a shot a antivurus programs' inability to keep them 100% protected. IIRC it was actually somebody's idea to find out how many download and review sites would include it for download and recommend it to their users. A distressingly high number of sites "reviewed" it and pronounced it "ok". A real good indicator as to why one should treat reviews carefully, and learn how to research correctly to find info needed about programs one considers installing.

The first post in this thread started by me: I will strongly recommend reading the original story at DSLreports/security forum referred to in the first post. It has by now 129 posts and 2547 hits. It was started by Dave, a long-term and respected member there... The bottomline is: It's very easy to get fooled, given the right circumstances and it can happen to most (all?) of us. Edit:updates
