HIDDEN TASK in "Scheduled Tasks"

In "Scheduled Tasks" i just found a HIDDEN TASK  called User_Feed_Synchronization-{2E4809A7-2FA9-4BA9-9567-D8314B966343} That is scheduled to run:

(1) "Every 5 minute(s) from 1:28 AM for 1352 minutes on 2008/11/6

and

(2) "Every 5 minute(s) from 12:00 AM for 24 hour(s) every day, starting 2008/11/7

I did a "FULL OFF LINE SCAN with avast! which said all was fine.  What the hell is this task??? I'm very Very VERY CONCERNED as I've heard that this is how some VIRUS  can lay in wait and infect you days after it gets on your PC.

Someone please help me with this as it's scheduled to run in 17 hours from now!!!!

Looks like it has something to do with Vista's RSS feed synchronization:

Google is your friend.

It is certainly strange as a friend;y google doesn't find anything for {2E4809A7-2FA9-4BA9-9567-D8314B966343}.

Were this on my system the Task would be disabled until I knew what it was for and what started it.

Though a google search for User_Feed_Synchronization allied to windows XP returns many hits, perhaps there is something there http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=User_Feed_Synchronization+windows+XP

You're welcome, it is the obvious that is often overlooked ;D

It is something to do with C:\WINDOWS\system32\msfeedssync.exe.

Disable it by going into ie 7 tools > options > content > feeds and web slices > uncheck all.

Good luck.  I have heard this is a place for viruses....
