Thanks for your guess Pondus but it won't be ready if Tech has anything to do with it since he's wasting time demonstrating the deep intellect in his postings.  :-\

No one knows ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s88r_q7oufE&feature=fvst )
Only Alwil team and they are not saying anything before the release day comes
It all depends on how many problems they have to solve,  and the time it takes to solve them....

He is demonstrating the pointless speculation on when it will be ready, there are countless topics asking the same question and the general and short answer hasn't changed, when its ready.

-- avast 5.0 release - There is no firm/fixed date for release as it will only be released once any beta issues are resolved. Hence the suggestion and link to monitor the beta sub-forum.

Whilst the first suggested date was October 2009 to coincide with the release of win7, even the beta didn't get released until October, so there would be no way a release date in October would happen. So the next date was hoped to be the second half of November. With only 8 days left in November and some unresolved issues in the beta build, that date was pushed back yet again and again.

I would think that there would have to be at least another beta refresh/build (which has been spoken of by one of the Alwil team) and a period of consolidation/confirmation any bugs had been squashed before any Release Candidate or regular release would happen.

So for me I'm in no hurry to get avast 5.0 on any artificial deadline, I only want it when it is ready and not sooner. So until that happens and we all get a pleasant surprise I will be happy with avast 4.8.

Welcome to the forums, kulitcpanget   :)

What antivirus program did you use before avast and are you using avast 4.8 or 5.0?

You might try a repair of avast.

To do a repair of avast :

Control panel > Add/remove programs > click once on avast to select it > click on Change/Remove > scroll down the left pane and click on repair > click OK> follow directions
