I am sad to see this. I use the Family Pack at home and have advised at least 15 different people to buy the Family Pack. I will now advise them to look elsewhere. Not due to the product, as Avast has always been my favorite, but pure economics. I can use Sunbelt's AV which is a solid product and the the Home License for 3+ PCs for about $70 a year. It will cost me 3 or more times that with the new pricing here. This really is a sad day and other than using the "free" product for my non-critical systems I will be saying goodbye to Avast when my license expires in August.

I ended up doing the same thing.  Found the new Norton product to be VERY good and if you know how to shop, got it cheap.  ($30 bucks for 3 licenses at Staples!)  For my 4th machine, my ISP has Norton IS 2010 for free, so I put that on the laptop (which is pretty much used to pay bills and surf the internet).   Now it's just a matter of finding something I like for the WHS, which isn't totally necessary (I scan everything before putting anything on there), but for peace of mind, I still want antivirus on there.  By the way, do some homework, the "other companies" products aren't what they used to be (clunky).  They now don't take up system resources ... in fact, in recent benchmarking, they rate higher than Avast! in both detection and resources.  Avast! has some catching up to do, not just with their product, but with their nonexistent support.  I would expect crappy support for a free product, but when it comes to paying for something?  The support is crucial.

I've gone from being a taut Avast! supporter, to an Avast! detractor.  I've already talked many of my "clients" (I'm the friends and family go-to free tech guy... ) into switching out as well.

The fact that this (and other threads in the Avast! WHS forum) have not had official postings in MONTHS is a testament to just how bad their support is.  It's sad.  They really HAD something.

What is stopping you from using the avast Internet Security (AIS) suite, that has a 3 license deal for a competitive price http://www.avast.com/en-gb/internet-security. Or the pro version which has competitive multi-license and duration deals http://www.avast.com/en-gb/pro-antivirus. Whilst nothing would come close to the old Family pack deal, both of these options would be worth looking at as I believe the last Pro option will be cheaper than the sunbelt option you mentioned.

Yeah this really is a bad move imho. I mean you are giving the free version away why not have a viable option for those home users that have more than 3 computers, like me. I have pushed the Family Pack to 30+ people and now have recommended that when their service is up to go to Sunbelt who has a great product as well. They can get pretty much unlimited computers at home protected for around $70 as mentioned above.

At the very least Avast could have offered the current subscribers to continue.

Oh well it has been fun Avast you were my favorite for many years, but as to everything else...

All good things must come to an end.

Good Bye... oh and I was about to renew next month as was about 3 other people I had recommended. They are all moving on as well. I will also be suggesting that to all people I had originally recommended.

yes it is a sad day,  :'( I to will not be renewing my licenses ether.. Loved WHS the product with the family pack. This was one of the things that differentiated you from the rest. So I guess that you will be just like the other software vendors and offer the same old bland product.

Last year I purchased the WHS/Family Pack for my home server and have also recommended and installed it on two of my clients WHS'. I feel that Avast has pulled a bait and switch tactic! >:( As a result, I will be getting my A/V protection from a different company along with my two clients and I will no longer be recommending avast to my co-workers, friends, and family.

I just ran into the same situation. My WHS subscription has just ran out after several days of trying to renew. I've called Avast and there is no competitive upgrade path or renewing the product. The new WHS version is server only with no desktop clients as before per the Family Pack.

I will be moving to a different product and Avast has now lost a customer.

I will no longer be suggesting Avast as a product to any friends, family nor the 900+ businesses the company I work for does IT for. I am deeply disappointed in this company not supporting previous customers and not offering any type of reasonable upgrade path.
