I ended up doing the same thing. Found the new Norton product to be VERY good and if you know how to shop, got it cheap. ($30 bucks for 3 licenses at Staples!) For my 4th machine, my ISP has Norton IS 2010 for free, so I put that on the laptop (which is pretty much used to pay bills and surf the internet). Now it's just a matter of finding something I like for the WHS, which isn't totally necessary (I scan everything before putting anything on there), but for peace of mind, I still want antivirus on there. By the way, do some homework, the "other companies" products aren't what they used to be (clunky). They now don't take up system resources ... in fact, in recent benchmarking, they rate higher than Avast! in both detection and resources. Avast! has some catching up to do, not just with their product, but with their nonexistent support. I would expect crappy support for a free product, but when it comes to paying for something? The support is crucial.
I've gone from being a taut Avast! supporter, to an Avast! detractor. I've already talked many of my "clients" (I'm the friends and family go-to free tech guy... ) into switching out as well.
The fact that this (and other threads in the Avast! WHS forum) have not had official postings in MONTHS is a testament to just how bad their support is. It's sad. They really HAD something.
