"The request is not supported (50)
« on: January 23, 2011, 02:59:14 PM »
I am worse than new:  I'm an English teacher.  So, please keep that in mind with responses?  Thanks.

When I browse, I keep getting redirected to a little ad screen.  I bought AVAST! Pro for Home and did a rootkit scan (which I guess is different from  a full scan, which never finds anything.  Lo and Behold, two items were found, both "high" severity and "hidden file."  When I try to move to chest (recommended) and hit apply nothing happens.  Right next to the finding there is a message in red "Error: The action is not supported (50)." (The quotation marks are mine.)  What do I do?  Thanks for any help.  Abby

Can you post the name and path of the infected file?
Can you post the name of the virus detected?
Can you post a screenshot of the 'ad screen'? See how: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0. You can use Gadwin PrintScreen to get a screenshot (http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/) or the free version of WinSnap 1.1.10 (http://www.filehippo.com/download_winsnap/?2173).
