avastsvc.exe service in "starting" state
« on: February 05, 2011, 02:25:09 PM »
when pc is booted, sometimes avast tray icon shows "not running" status by red X icon. i checked services.msc and found avast service as - starting.. this issue was there in previous versions , fixed in 5.1.884(beta) and now continues in latest version.. have to restart pc to solve this.

it happens few times while booting windows and other times not..normally too, first the icon shows redx, then it shows avast icon with a yellow '!' mark, then only normal icon.

luckily i kept load avast to after other services, else my pc will hang in "loading ur personal settings" when my xp sp3 is starting up..

help me with a solution.. 5.1.884 was very good, yet as it was beta i had to update to stable version and now this...!!!

Did you already tried an installation from scratch?

Download aswclear.exe (http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility) and remove everything of the actual version.
Then reboot and install everything again.

See if that solves your problem.

now avast shows redx mark always after starting up, cant stop it  and start again by using services.msc because the process is in 'starting' status
