BSOD--minidump indicates aswsp.sys is cause
« on: February 12, 2011, 03:08:00 PM »
Hi,

My computer rebooted suddenly...I analyzed BSOD and the cause was aswsp.sys.

I've uploaded Mini021211-01.zip to your ftp.site (incoming directory), so you can review it.

Let me know if there ia any additional information you need from my system.

Yours,

Dave

Update: Windows XP, current service pack/patches.
Other software is on system, main relevent one would be Spybot with Teatimer.

FYI I have the same problem with the same .sys file indicated by the crashdump.

Have tried both the most recent version of Avast and earlier versions, in both normal and safe mode. Also cloned my hard disc onto another drive inbetween installations. Running a scan with Avast causes immediate BSOD with either PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA stop code 50 or BAD_POOL_HEADER stop code 19. Would love this to be fixed as I'm being forced into using AVG!

Noone is forcing you to use avg (or any other software for that matter)
Or is there some mean looking old guy with a loaded shotgun ready to fire standing behind you? ;D

It really would help mentioning the OS (and version) as well as the version of avast and if there is/was any other security software on the system.
