Do you have any firewall installed?
Do you have any other antiviruses installed?
Can you access to IM's?

Try this:
To temporarily stop all of the Avast shields at the same time, just right-click the orange

avast! icon in the system tray, click "avast! shields control" and select the period for

which they should be stopped.(You can reactivate them there later)
If after stopping the shields you can use your browsers, you need to configure your

browsers to function when the Avast shields are turned on.
Go here for instructions and videos appropriate for your browser to set up the proper configurations.(since the Avast internet shields are in effect acting as proxies between your system and the web.)

An alternative would be to disable the real-time shields until you re-start your computer or permanently using the shields controls but you will sacrifice their protection for a jump in surfing speed.

In your firewall you should also grant your browsers permission to use other programs(ie. Avast) to access the internet.
Hope this helps.

It sounds like what could be another case of this:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=74515.msg620473#msg620473

To test, disable all shields, then immediately re-enable them.  Now see if your browser works.

This seems to be an unresolved issue with Win7 SP1 (maybe just x64, not sure).

First of all disable shields and try if works... Then:
Repair avast! (Control panels > Uninstall program > avast! > repair) and then reboot. When this won't work install avast! from scratch...

@ GetI3acK,

In order to help you, we need more information from you:

1.   What is your OS, 32 or 64-bit?
2.   What version of Avast did you install?
3.   What product of Avast did you install?  Free, Pro, AIS?
4.   What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:
- Antivirus (AV)
- Firewall (FW)
- Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs
- Other security software
- If they were in the past, how did you remove them (the vendor's uninstaller's tool or  another way)?

Remnants from other security software can prevent other security software from working correctly or installing correctly.  Knowing the above information, we can provide you with proper uninstallation tools to rid these remnants.

As suggested in an earlier post, try the Avast Repair first:
- Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
- Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
- Reboot.

If the Repair does not work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall Avast using the Avast Uninstaller tool http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe and removing ALL versions and products of Avast on this machine in Safe Mode, but we need the answers to the questions above first.  Thank you.
