Hi bob3160,

This makes a very interesting read. Must be rather hectic for you. By the way as you meet a lot of people out there. How many of them you think are long time avast users? Can you make a fair guess at that number. As I assume avast av must be quite wide-spread in the States. Keep up the good work,

Damian

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Hello Damian,

I wish I could say that a lot of them have been using avast! for a long time but that's not usually the case.
Most of the people at these presentations that are using a free AV program are using AVG or MSE.
That pictures changes to some extent when I return to a club. At that point, I usually find a greater number of
avast! users than before the first presentation.
I do know that if these presentations aren't helping in converting users, I would no longer be doing them. :)

New converts to avast! don't only come from people who attend the presentation.

I just received the following from someone I met and talked to at my local Airport in
Albuquerque, NM (Sunport):

19 Members of the Mid-Hudson Computer Users Group in Poughkeepsie, NY,
attended the remote presentation on 9/13/2012.
The presentation was followed by a fairly lengthy Q&A session.

I'm still having a problem capturing the audio from the remote site.
(Eventually I'll find the right settings.)
As you can tell, doing a remote presentation 100% successfully depends on a lot of variables.
Not all of which are under the control of the presenter.  ;D

On 10/1/2012, 19 members of the Greater South Bay Users Group attended the presentation.

The group asked many questions during and after the presentation.
I was even able to demonstrate the answer to a question posed by one of the members who is an avast! user.
The meeting was held at Zamperini Field in Torrance CA.

Bob, I'm not sure where to place this appreciation... so I searched "presentations" and found this thread.

As you know, I try to monitor all press coverage (at least in English) about AVAST Software, and sometimes it can take a while to get through it all. That said, I today finally got around to reading an article about your presentation to the Chicago Computer Society back in May, which was covered by Chicago Tribune's TribLocal!

http://triblocal.com/tinley-park/calendar/2012/05/01/south-suburban-computer-club-meeting-protecting-yourself-and-your-identity-online/

You're an amazing man, Bob, and on behalf of our whole Marketing/PR team, thanks for being a great alternative to full-page advertisements over urinals. ;)

Thanks Jason,

I'm enjoying every minute of it.
There's certainly a big difference in the weather between Chicago in May and California in October.
Wonder how many more urinals we can cover with full page ads.   ;D
