c:\## aswSnx private storage
« on: June 15, 2011, 05:01:25 PM »
I'm running a program called ThreatFire and it's detected c:\## aswSnx private storage as a Hidden Folder Threat: High.
I Googled and have found out that it's the Avast Sandbox. I read that it's usually hidden until Avast is uninstalled and then may show up and it's OK to delete it.
I've had Avast 6 installed for several months along with ThreatFire with no problems.

I have not and don't intend to uninstall Avast.

Should I keep c:\## aswSnx private storage on my computer, or get rid of it? I don't want to adversely affect Avast's function.

Thanks for any help,
skilz853

You need to make a ThreatFire exception if that is possible.
By the way, why are you still using ThreatFire? Really, it was and old good companion... not anymore...

Tech, thanks for the quick reply. I am able to exclude c:\## aswSnx private storage from ThreatFire detection.
I thought ThreatFire was fairly new and it is the only free program of it's class that has auto-update and real-time protection.
I'll look into it some more and my let it go.
Again, Thanks,

Well threatfire hasn't had much in the way of recent development, so it may not be aware of the fact that this is a legit function.

If you were to try to delete it (c:\## aswSnx) I would imagine that the avast! self-defence module might have something to say about that. Not to mention it is needed by the sandbox and may well be recreated (if deletion didn't break something).

So I hope you are getting the idea that all I would be getting rid of would be threatfire.

Yeah... It was this way... Right now, the development is very slow, the avast behavior shield is doing the same (and better) job. When TF was acquired by Symantec we already know it will be its death :'(

Tech, DavidR, I can't find anywhere to ask about this, so I hope one of you can steer me in the right direction.
When I go to profile, the only option in Modify Profile, is Account Related Settings. I went to help and there should be about 4 or 5 other options. I can not change any of the Summary information, or my picture/avatar. I don't see Calendar in the Main Menu after signing in after I log in. There are other things missing also, but I think I've explained enough where you may be able to help me.
Hope so,
skilz853

You are very restricted in what you can do with your profile until you have 20 posts.
