.wmv file scan
« on: June 25, 2011, 05:38:28 PM »
Hello All,

I just scanned a downloaded 2.00 GB .wmv file with avast which it completed in less than a second and found no threat. Normally a file scan this size would take several minutes to complete.

I scanned it with Malwarebytes and it did the same thing. super fast and no threats.

I don't have anything in my exclusions settings.

The file plays normally with my media player.

Any ideas what's causing the scanners to behave this way?

Thanks for any assistance.

Malwarebytes doesn't even read in non-PE files, as for avast, probably only certain parts need to be scanned

Is there some changes to scanning engine?
Just noticed scanning speed increases dramatically in movie file scanning (finished less than 1 sec with "Test whole files" enabled).
As far as I remember it takes seconds to scan this kind of big files...
Yes, though it has nothing to do with the new program build (it's inside of the virus definitions).
