Overcharged for non-working Rescue Disc product
« on: August 12, 2011, 12:54:44 AM »
The Rescue Disc is $10 but when I bought it the receipt shows $10 but I was charged $15 to my card  ???

I decided to overlook this fact as I like the product, previously using the BART CD.
However, upon downloading the Rescue Disc and trying to boot it I get the message "The file acpi.sys is corrupted.", trying to upgrade it to the latest version results in the same message.

I thought okay i'll replace the drivers folder with the one from the BART CD. It gets past the load bar and shows the Windows XP loading screen but then errors with one of the registry files.

"The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\DEFAULT or its log or alternate."

I really doubt that *any* file on Bart CD (paid, it was never free...) will fit on avast Rescue CD. I had it working on my computer without problem. For sure it's not a money grab scam.

I got it working :D
Just had to copy the CONFIG & DRIVERS folders from the original BART CD
What's interesting is the registry files in CONFIG folder had the same modified date & size so I guess something is corrupt on the Avast! servers

Any idea why I would be charged $15 rather than $10 on my card?

I am still waiting for an updated .iso I can download that has the non-functioning folder scan option bug fixed.

It's been months now since I ordered and received my original paid Rescue CD.
