New Official Avast Program Update 6.0.1289
« on: September 18, 2011, 05:59:55 PM »
Hi all,

I use Avast Free edition for a long time and I did not know some technical problems.
But, I have updated from avast free version 6.0.1125 to 6.0.1289 over the program update-button in the Avast windows.

After, I have restarted my computer and a "blue screen of death" appeared on my Windows XP SP3 with a "Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" !

So, I have deleted this last version and everything works fine. Then, I try directly to setup the new version 6.0.1289 and I have the same problem (blue screen!).

Finally, this new version has been deleted and I have reinstalled avast free version 6.0.1125 => Avast and Windows XP work fine.

Could you please help me?

Thanks.
Serge

Hello :)

Download the lastest version of avast in this link:
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

And save it in your harddisk.

Then download this avast uninstall tool here:
http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

Use the uninstall tool to remove avast, and restart your computer.

Then install the new version of avast you have downloaded and saved in your harddisk :)

Better yet, run Avast removal tool (from that link) under Windows Safe Mode.

And it´s all for nothing.  :P
Once you get this bluescreen Avast simply can´t work on your computer anymore.

Remove it properly with the above removal tool and look for something else.

I'm facing a BSOD problem also. Although I suspect it is not related to avast, but to some other program I use (K9, Mozy... VirtualBox...). Who knows...
Sometimes it does not worth to blame to the antivirus... Believe me.

C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file.
Better if you can compress (zip), rename it with an unique name, them and add some information about the BSOD and the link for this thread.  ;)
Upload it to this anonymous ftp server: ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming/

Hi all,

I have downloaded the latest version of Avast 6.0.1289 on my hard disk and used the uninstall tool to remove old version of Avast. After my computer restarted, I have installed the new version of Avast. Then, I have restarted my computer and once more a "blue screen of death" appeared on my Windows XP!

Can anyone have a solution to resolve my technical problem?

Thanks.
Serge
