Avast IS6 Free trial - aswSp.Sys causing BSOD
« on: September 26, 2011, 06:57:27 PM »
Hello everyone!

I have avast Internet Security 5 on my Windows Vista and its awesome, but I recently got a new laptop with Windows 7 on it and I'm trying out Avast IS 6 trial on it. It was doing great for 5 days but now afther 1minute of being logged in I get a bsod. So I used 'Blue Screen Viewer' to view wich driver/app is causing it and its aswSP.sys!

Could anyone help me thank you!

I think I have find the problem..

Avast IS6 Worked great until I installed 'Windows8' on my 2nd HDD and dual booted into Windows8. The first thing I did was Installing Avast Free Av. <- this might cause the problem..

I haven't got anymore BSOD since I disabled avast to start up when pc starts. I manually start it afther booting. <- this might cause the problem..

If someone could verify if this might cause a problem and/or help me.

Thanks
Matthias B.

If your Win 8 "touched" your Win Seven partition (boot sectors, system files...), then this is probably related to the problem.

Win 8 doesn't allow any AV yet (except MSE).

I installed avast on my win8 an its working.. And as I said before I installed it on a different partion
Windows7 -> C:\
Windows8 -> W:\

For Windows Seven, there shouldn't be any problems (but, bugs or some incompatibilities may exist).

I repeat, for Windows 8, almost no AV will work yet. This is a MS restriction, for now.
