AMS service stops automatically

Hi All,

I am facing very weird problem. Since last couple of days, I receive an alert in my server monitoring software that AMS service has gone down automatically. So I start it manually and think it will stay like that but next day I receive same alert - AMS service down

When I looked into server, I discovered that I cannot login to ADNM console. It just doesnt discovers the server to log on to. When I type in the server name manually and try to login, I receive "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. Unable to login as Administrator or connection error"

In AMS maintenance tool - when I try to "Check DB", I receive following

AMD database is not compatible! (0x0000A410)
*: Going to check version of database of avast! on MS SQL Server
Cannot initialize data source, error 0x80004005


In Sql Server Configuration Manager - I can see an instance of SQL Server (Avast) running fine.
It is set to logon as LocalSystem

In Sql Server Management Studio Express - I can connect to Servername\AVAST successfully and see the databases in there.

In AMS maintenance tool - When I try to restore DB (Last backup taken at 02/12/2011), I receive the following:

*:Cannot initialize data source, error 0x80004005, I click OK and then get
Cannot check whether database exists, error: 42000, I click OK on this box and then get
Error while restoring database, Error: 42000

When I try to start AMS service manually, I get the following in debugview

Now, I also seen a post here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=19025.0;wap2 which I think talks about the same problem.

I really dont want to uninstall the whole thing and do it all over again. Is there any way of fixing this problem without doing that?
