OK, this must of been missed in the other thread i thinks.

I have a problem.

Avast P2P shield doesn't seem to be scanning my music downloads, it seems to scan winmx itself on opening, but not song downloads (stays on C:\Program Files\WinMX\index.dat), if tried with two songs and had the same result, from begging to end nothing happens, i first noticed it when the little avast "A" icon wasn't spinning away in the task bar, winmx is deffinatly checked in the customization box, and the sensitivity bar is on high.
I noticed that just after the file is downloaded from winmx Avast scans "C:\Program Files\WinMX\library.dat", could this be it scanning the song, i thought it was suppost to say the song it scanned in the P2P shield? (i download to my desktop btw).

Windows XP Home SP2
Avast 4.5.542
Winmx 3.53

Edit: Same with avast 4.5.546

What is the image name in Task Manager for WinMX? (winmx.exe?)
It seems that WinMX accesses its *.dat files often, so these files are shown in "Last scanned" field for P2P Shield. If you try download some big file (e.g. ZIP file), is any change?

Well i only ever download single songs, which are usually .MP3, don't normally go over 8-9MBs.

Check the totals in the p2p provider and start a session and check the totals at the end and see if they are increased.

Since I don't use p2p, I can't see the provider in my set-up.

When you click on the Standard Shield provider for instance, There is Last Scanned, Scanned Count, etc. Is there not a similar layout?

If so, check the Scanned Count before a session and check it again afterwards.

Maybe WinMX immediately accesses its *.dat files after download, so you are unable to see your downloaded file in Last Scanned field in P2P provider. But I think that you are guarded, P2P shield scans file traffic in WinMX Process (and it's working as you can see on those *.dat file), there is no reason why your mp3 files should not be tested. Or you can test it via EICAR test virus (www.eicar.com), but you will need someone who share this file, so that you can download it.
