Browser Plugins, "Enable WebRep" option
« on: February 11, 2012, 10:03:14 AM »
I am using the new Avast 7 browser plugin excursively for the phishing filter so I have  "Enable WebRep" option unchecked.  For the most part Avast honors the setting preference and does not display the WebRep ratings for google searches.

However, it seems once and a while the plugin will not honor my preference and starts displaying the Webrep ratings even when I have the "Enable WebRep" unchecked.  Then I would have to go through Avast and uninstall and reinstall the browser plugin then the plugin works correctly.

I wish I could have a surefire way to repeat the scenario when browser plugins does not honor the settings preference, but I can't.  I just wanted to report a potential problem to any developers.

right now web rep doesn't  even run anymore in Chrome at all, so I'm not surprised if a few settings don't work either. All this will be fixed before the release version is out ;)

When it happens I check both Firefox 10 and IE 9, and both browser were doing it.  Sorry for being vague, if I had more information I would provide it.

This doesn't fix the current problem but if the ratings exception are too annoying,
you can always remove it. Choose the Change option in the uninstall process. See the picture

One of the problems with beta - you can't always get exactly what you want. Sometimes what you expect,
doesn't yet work correctly.
Betas are always a crap shoot. This one is quite a bit better than some of the ones I've tested. :)

Bob, why in your setup there are items marked with "?" (question mark)?

I'm using the free version,  Those items aren't available.
Maybe they could be if you decide to upgrade ???

I'm only guessing.
