Hmm...access denied error...

OK...lets try this.

Download Windows Repair (all in one) from this site
http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html

Install the program then run

Go to step 2 and allow it to run Disc check

Once that is done then go to step 3 and allow it to run SFC

On the start repairs tab select advanced mode and click start

Select all the items and tick restart system when finished then click Start

btw

thank you  ;D

Here are some pictures to help and also we will use the standalone version that does not require installation

Download  Windows Repair (all in one)  from this site
Select the portable version (no install required) Portable (1.3 MB)

Run  the programme

Go to step 2 and allow it to run Disc check

Once that is done then go to step 3 and allow it to run SFC

On the start repairs tab select advanced mode and click start

Select all check boxes that are available and press start

Did MSE update happily ?

OK lets now check the registry keys for your security and internet

Also  what version of IE do you have 8 or 9

run farbar service scanner

Tick "All" options.
Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

the MSE is still appparently updatng but i am not holding out much hope that it is actually going to achieve it.  Things are taking a very very long time to either download or update and though our internet connection is slow it is not normally as slow as it has been with whatever this problem is.

You have IE7 - so download this to your desktop and then run  http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16792

This will install IE9

this MSE does not look like it has progressed from the first pic i attached for you does it?  i do not think it is able to download the updates it needs.

firefox could not send the crash report, the error says the proxy is blocking it, i dont know what a proxy is.......

im glad you know what version IE i have ;D  thank you :)

here is the status of the downloading IE9................... lets hope it makes it to 100% because all the other downloads fail or seem blocked somehow when they get to a certain point
