Avast! 7 beta update (7.0.1443)
« on: June 18, 2012, 07:52:33 PM »
Hi all,

I'm glad to announce a second public beta of an upcoming program update of avast! Free AV / Pro AV / Internet Security (version 7.0.1443).

This program update contains the following major features:
* Changes in the autosandbox module
* Improvements in Remote Assistance (support for UAC prompts etc)
* Improvements in SafeZone (protection against kernel-mode keyloggers;  Updated SafeZone Browser; clipboard sharing, etc.)
* Outlook plugin redesign
* Opera support in WebRep
* SiteCorrect module for the detection of unwanted websites
* Windows 8 compatibility updates
* Emergency Updater

Fixed issues from previous beta:
* No sounds on Vista/W7
* All known BSOD
* Stability fixes on Win8

Known issues:
* Outlook plugin is sometime not running correctly when you have more than 1 active account
* Windows 8 compatibility still experimental
* No translations have been updated so far, so all new items are in English

Download locations:
http://files.avast.com/test5beta/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/test5beta/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/test5beta/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe

It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Pavel

Installed.
I actually never saw any problems on Windows 8 unless you're running a different version that mine. (Build 8400)
I've also always had sound for the VDB updates.

Sounds are fixed on Windows 7 64 bit. However, the Script Shield is still not scanning on the latest version of Chrome.

The same answer given many times for this question, 'when it is ready.'

That is the point of beta testing to identify if any bug is present and correct it (if a serious issue) before releasing as a regular update. Given this there can't really be any fixed date.

Are the sandbox issues resolved or is the implementation still incomplete?

I think I'll try this on my XP machine, not this one which is my primary computer. If the other one gets messed up, it's not so much of a big deal.
