You could try an Eicar test file. That's what I did to test it.

Installed over the top of AIS 7.0.1426, rebooted & suffered total loss of internet.
I get a ERROR 10045.

Same thing happens with the earlier 7.01442 beta as well. Works perfectly, till I reboot - then woomph - no internet.
Tried WinSock repair, LSPFix & 'Complete Internet Repair' tools - all failed to give me internet back.

My Network shows as 'unidentifed'.

The only fix is to uninstall the BETA, once this is done, I have full internet again - & can then install the 'stable' 7.0.1426.

If it helps, I run VirginMedia 30meg Broadband (cable), but have a VPN set up also, as '2nd connection' - the one it connects to at default is VirginMedia.

Any advice guys?

Do you have custom sounds? If yes, then delete them and restart. Then install them fresh.

You could try a clean install. I also use Virgin Media and have no problems. If your using wireless, try re entering your router password. Also, have you tried rebooting the modem and PC after the install?

After a clean install, there was sound. We had just a clean install, so there is no hope for the same.  ;)

My PC uses Ethernet to connect, so the router password isn't the issue, but yes - I've rebooted both the PC, & the Superhub several times, same result, a warning from Avast that is can't connect, with a yellow triangle over it - and no internet whatsoever, just an 'unknown connection' showing in 'Network & Sharing'.

Even tried uninstalling Avast stable, rebooting, the installing the beta, & rebooting.

Same result - no internet, & Avast complaining about ERROR 10045.
As soon as I uninstall the beta, & reboot - I have full internet again!

I use 'Admuncher' & Peerblock, along with Malware Bytes fully configured on Avast to be 'ignored' - according to the settings on the forum, so that shouldn't be interfering.

I'll remove my VPN tomorrow, & try again.

I have migrated my user profile to a seperate hard drive (as I use a SSD to boot off), although this was done months ago - so I doubt that's the issue.

Yeah, try without the VPN. Also why not disable Admuncher' & Peerblock to see if they might be intefering with the new beta. There could be a chance. Also is the Firewall functioning normal with the beta? That could be another cause.

Installed over 1426 on my XP machine and so far,so good.

EDIT: The new Safe Zone Browser will not open any pages, including the default one.  I'll try a clean install and see if it works then.
UPDATE: After a clean install, everything now works.
